New logistics centre for the factory building in HALL in Tyrol

HEADING TOWARD GROWTH: FELDER GROUP EXPANDS CAPACITY

With a wide range of products, the Felder Group, as a full-service provider for wood, plastics and aluminum processing machines, meets the needs of all its customers – whether they are professionals or industrial companies. The company has experienced rapid growth in recent years, not least thanks to its innovative products, which stand for high quality, efficiency and occupational safety. Solutions that set new standards worldwide are developed at the primary engineering centre in HALL in Tyrol. With its strong background in high-end mechanical engineering, the technology company has been consistently investing in research and development for complex mechatronic products, software and automation systems for many years.

The growth process at the location in HALL in Tyrol, which has been consistently pursued for decades, creates and secures valuable jobs for the region. The number of job openings was further increased even during the Corona Crisis. HALL in Tyrol is the Felder Group's largest production site alongside Italy and Germany: from there, more than 90 % of the Felder products are exported worldwide. This continuous growth of the site in HALL in Tyrol was reason for a major expansion: in early January, the construction of the new logistics center for incoming goods and production was started. The construction site covers an area of approx. 5,100 m2. It contains a 30-metre high automated high-bay warehouse with approx. 11,700 storage spaces for pallets, an automated small parts warehouse with 16,000 box spaces, 2,500 m2 of free logistics zone, manual warehouses and an underground car park. It was important to the Felder Group to use the most space-saving construction method possible in order to preserve resources.

The construction of the new logistics center creates new, advanced jobs. Maintaining ideal working conditions through aspects such as ergonomics, light and interior climate was at the heart of the project. Another important aspect in the planning was the issue of sustainability: the building is heated via CO2-neutral district heating with concrete core activation. Energy-efficient conveyor systems and shelf servicing equipment, LED lighting and a photovoltaic system ensure that important ecological considerations are also taken into account in the course of economic growth.

Sustainability, environmental awareness and resource efficiency are part of the Felder Group's corporate philosophy – even in terms of products: user-friendly and intuitive operation of Felder machines and the avoidance of unnecessary physical strain help reduce processing times and consequently increase the efficient use of energy. "With the construction of the new logistics centre, the Felder Group is actively taking another step towards efficiency and sustainable corporate management," says CEO Martin Felder. Completion and launch of operations at the centre are scheduled for December 2022.
